Sorry, I’m missing something… how is “Stop trying to make Alpha Man happen” objectifying? What do you think it means to objectify someone? (Hint: the clue is in the word, but it’s not about objecting to what someone’s doing.)
Objectifier is hardly complimentary, but you have to admit that it sounds a lot cooler than Alpha Man. It’s more intimidating, and describes his power rather well.
Interesting fact on Alpha Males – the Alpha of a wolf pack is not promoted to chief due to his awesomeness.
Nah, he settles down with a female and has some kids, who follow him until they reach maturity. Most of them then leave to start their own packs. It’s really rather like humans, complete with a few kids that just sort of hang around, helping out their parents until they die, at which point one takes over.
It puts an interesting perspective of the whole “Alpha Male” idea – Alpha males find a partner and raise their kids. This doesn’t seem to be what most human “Alpha Males” want to do.
Interesting in a pack the “alpha” KILLS his competition or drives it out.
he gets all the mates and the “betas” ( god i hate this term when used on people it’s like we are two-tiered species ) get shit.
And “stop trying to make alpha man happen” means if it “would happen” then she would fall for him, which would be kinda hypocritical.
He pisses many men off by trying to alpha male it up. Being seriously rude to them, taking and not reciprocating in small slightly mean ways, etc. It doesn’t help that he’s really rather self-righteous and also talks himself up quite a bit, although he does get away with it a certain extent because he’s funny and intelligent.
With women… Well, he’s generally a lot more respectful on the face of things. Also talks a good feminist talk, which helps. Pisses some off because of how he treats their male friends and/or boyfriends, or generally by being an arrogant SOB. Also a keen serial monogamist.
Not really the same sort of character as power-fantasy nerdboy here, obviously. It’s just that the moniker of alpha male made me think of him, since he tries so hard to be one.
I like “Objectifier”. It’s to the point and sounds far less awkward than “Male Gaze Man”. Besides, I don’t think of this guy as being a “man” at all. He’s just a pathetic little boy bulked up on mental steroids.
Silly question, but what does Gyno-Star mean here when she says “on the nose?”
That phrase usually means “accurate” or “on target,” but that doesn’t make sense here—or is GS really saying, “we shouldn’t call him Male Gaze Man because that would be too accurate?”
(Not that I don’t find the idea of two superheroes arguing what to call the supervillain hilarious 🙂
I’m sorry, but “Gyno-Star” and “Little Sappho” are just about the last people who get to criticize other people’s choices in Super-names. And this is from someone who likes this comic.
LOOO♥E IT!!!
“It’s time for gynostar and lesbi-girl! Misandry power…away !!”
*Stop trying to make Alpha Man happen* – oh so that’s not objectifying men.
Should rename herself to “hypocrite girl”
Well, fight humourous misogany with humorous misandry, they cancel out to just leave humor!
You don’t have to read if you don’t enjoy it.

Um… what? You’re really reaching here, bro.

It’s not as if they let Stay-at-Home-Mommy call herself the Happy Homemaker like she wanted.
FUNGIBLE!

That’s because the conception of “alpha” and “beta” don’t really apply well to human sociology. They’re crap concepts.
Your insight astounds me.
😉
I agree.

It’s not going to happen!
I’m not the only one who thought of Mean Girls, right?
this comment is so fetch.
Bill Walko, stop trying to make fetch happen! It’s not going to happen!
Heh. So, there’s this guy I know.

Again, I’m wondering: where did the purple villain and the three clinger ladies go during all this? Did his male gaze magically make them disappear?
The three wenches are obviously kneeling at his feet, off-panel. And if you were the purple dudebro, would you have hung around?
Silly question, but what does Gyno-Star mean here when she says “on the nose?”

“On the nose” can also mean “too literal” or “unsubtle.”
Ah, that figures, thank you!
Doesn’t it also mean that it stinks to high heaven?
If things on your nose stink to high heaven, you might have a problem…
Don’t think Gyno-Star gets to criticize superhero names.
