No, it’s the tone. The loud, angry tone that women have to bust out because no one listens when we’re polite. She tries to delicately edge in and be heard without ‘stepping on any toes’ and IT DOESN’T FUCKING WORK, JACKASS. <–Oh dear, look at me go. So unladylike.
Either you’re quiet enough that you don’t get in the way or you’re too loud to be taken seriously.
That having been said, apparently there’s a clear line that men usually find they didn’t ‘have the word’ enough while women are on the opposite end of the spectrum.
This, combined with the archaic view of ‘women have nothing worthwhile to say to men’ might make this team ill suited with the terrible modern standpoint of employing both genders.
I recommend an awkward HR meeting that makes them vengeful towards women and tearing out all the urinals.
I’m kinda wondering where the brains are on this team.
If they are a major team that it’s supposedly an honor to join…how do they keep succeeding? It’s getting hard to believe they are successful, sexist, racist AND stupid.
That and the physicist in me wants to reach out and yell at her right now. But that’s due to Omega Radiation…not being a thing. So her statement comes off as a lot more stupid than it should. MS3TK Mantra, I suppose. It’s comics, I really shouldn’t be trying to examine the science too hard.
What do you mean, “no such thing as Omega Radiation”?
You’ve got alpha radiation, beta radiation, gamma radiation, delta radiation, epsilon radiation… obviously, there must be a form of radiation for every Greek letter!
Pi radiation is delicious. Rho radiation, on the other hand, merely has a bumpy nose and is somewhat irritable.

You know what’s funny? (For certain definitions of funny, anyway.)
I’ve seen that happen (less overtly laid out, but still pretty much the exact same situation) and I still have a hard time believing it. It’s almost inconceivable that people could be so ridiculous, but they still do things like this. You’re trying to figure something out, she has the answer but you’re talking over her, so that’s pretty much her only option, but you’re going to act like that when she takes it and gets the needed information out to you? I don’t even….
Humans. Humans are a ridiculous species. Do squirrels have this problem?
Actually, no, not really. It happens when a group of people arbitrarily valued by society and given unearned power in it forget how to listen to anyone unlike themselves. So it mostly happens to women trying to talk to men.
Of all the reasons there were not to vote for Sarah Palin, this was the most interesting. “Do you really want to listen to THAT voice for the next four years?” (Of course, I didn’t want to hear what she was saying, OR how she was saying it.) On a more serious note, it’s difficult to make people understand that this is an attitude about women that is so ingrained in our culture that folks don’t even recognize it as misogynistic.
Agreed. (Still makes me no less happy that Palin wasn’t a heartbeat away from the Presidency, the nuclear codes, the…- for far better reasons than that, though…)
Geez, guys…remember that The Tick cartoon? Remember how sexist pig Die Fledermaus was always portrayed as a useless, cowardly buffoon? Think there might have been a REASON for that?
How DARE she have an opinion!
And how dare she be RIGHT! Oh, the vanity of females…
*Turns sarcasm mode OFF before heading to work.*
It’s not the opinion: the newcomer tried to take charge and assume leadership. Toes immediately trod upon.

She should have explicitly stated why she is pissed. They have no clue what they are doing wrong

Employing women is one thing. But listening to them? You can’t demand too much so soon!
They’re underachieving morons.
And they like it that way.
Uggh….men who do this are fucking cocksmiths.
“Cocksmith” sounds like a job description of someone working in a dildo factory.
…especially in the Oglaf-verse.
Well, at least Dynamo didn’t join in with silly castigating of a teammate.
Black Dynamo?
I predict some epic throwing of shade in the near future
But seriously… Did they all REALLY just say those things? Like… can they even hear themselves?
When I have them all say it in one panel like that, it seems pretty obviously wrong-headed. But… http://fortune.com/2014/08/26/performance-review-gender-bias/ IRL women are told stuff like that all the time.
Just elect him Mayor of New York…he’ll put all the landmarks on a beach somewhere.

She is probably right… in her universe.
Characters with super-powers, remember?
Why would you balk at a little thing like “Omega rays”?

Omega rays are obviously the best rays, as they’re the last.
Physicists are still trying to work out what to call the next ones.
… would hum Tom Lehrer’s “A delta for _every_ epsilon” except that I’ve never actually heard the song, just seen the lyrics.
Still, it seems appropriate here.

Sad thing is that this happens and is done by people of any group.
