Sometimes Gynostar can be a real pain with her preaching and a bit hypocritical as well. One moment she’s asking the man to re-decorate and the next she’s chastising him for being too focused on outer appearances. Just thank the man and then be quiet!
Haha, point taken. Although I think of this less as hypocrisy, and more as her just stopping for a moment to consider and examine something she had previously taken for granted (that thing being that gay men would always do her interior decorating for her).
Keith the verbose(and more than slightly annoying)
Tasteful lighting? Is that when the restaurant is so dimly lit you don’t notice your blind date is wearing tear away clothes (go old navy!) and that carnivorous look you are getting may not be rut.
I’m actually fine with Gyno-star being imperfect. My favorite author once wrote, “An unconflicted protagonist isn’t just boring, he (or she) is dumb as well.”
That is a most excellent point. I suppose I should be glad that he doesn’t allow her to badger or push him (although he IS helping her with the decorating, as she asked). He believes that people CAN have it all: a love for beauty and the freedom to choose one’s lifestyle. I can respect that.
I love that she’s so very flawed, but her flaws aren’t used to destroy her and her pursuit of social justice is sincere.
She has no idea how badly she’s just stereotyped gay men, as if they’re all just one effeminate man’s clone army, and the breeders in the straightjackets never get hung up on appearance…

YES! “Beauty is truth, truth beauty,” – that is all
Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know
Well, maybe not ALL I need to know… 😉
