Scientific community? Sure, they might have other priorities, but those kittens are a goldmine. Gotta be private funding for it somewhere, maybe in Japan.
Stupid scientific community. Seems like kittens that never grow up would actually be an enormous step towards remedying all the icky things that come with human aging.
To a limited degree, we DO have a cat breed with limited grown that remains adorable for it’s lifespan, complete with adorable clumbsiness moments. So yeah, that’s kind of a real thing now.
Of COURSE there are more important things than kittens that don’t grow up. For example, making fireflies that glow all different colors. And making glow-in-the-dark houseplants (totally possible, and I hope to do this in a few months!).
Kittens that don’t grow up would still be capable of learning to use the litter tray, right?
I think the next priority on the list should be kittens that clean their own litter boxes out….
Even with *feral* kittens, I’ve never had to actually litter train them. I just plop ’em in the box and they figure it out =P . And I just had to raise six of ’em.
LOL! There was actually a series of at least three stories in Analog Science Fiction dealing with kittens that didn’t grow up. Because their brains were so active, they had human-level intelligence. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
I’m going to read that not as “stories in Analog Science Fiction” but as “articles in Scientific American” because that’s the world I want to live in. 🙂

Well somebody has to be financing her lab. Probably the Japanese.
If you want a kitten that won’t grow up, I recommend a Maine Coon.
They never seem to grow up.
Oh yes they do!! Well, they grow BIG, if not up.

Really? That idea is genious! So many scientific possibilities….not to mention the overload of cuteness!

…Just showing it where the litter box is?

That IS a awesome idea! I mean, mif that would work with kittens, you could work it out more, so it’d would eventually work on humans!
