We need to curb out demand for meat. It takes more water and plant life to make one pound of meat. Our Earth can’t stand so much being taken for so few, and more want meat. It is a sign of being rich like the Americans.
When I eat chicken wings, I see tiny chicks staring up at me with cute, accusing eyes, “why do you destroy us, human? Why!?”
I’m not actually sure why I’m not a vegetarian. I think I’m just an awful person. They taste so, so good, and I am a monster. Why couldn’t they be made of cucumber instead of meat? I hate the taste of cucumber.
Gosh, dairy farms are the most feminist institutions because the female cows are kept alive, clean, and they manage to make the females productive at something. By contrast, it is usually the males that are neutered, and then murdered young to produce meat.
Absent the dairy industry there would be no cheesecake! Totally worth it.
Let’s see, cows are now forced to be lactating all of their lives. Made to produce 20% above what they do with some dairy farmers wanting to get them to produce 20%! Milk is subsidized (why?) so they aren’t making enough. End the subsidy, milk is an unnecessary product. We aren’t even breast fed, yet we drink milk long past weening. We are a strange species. The cows suffer all their lives trapped so they can’t move for hours. At least the bulls are killed so they won’t suffer but a fraction of the cows lives. Then when the cow is spent, it is slaughtered too.
DonM you could write PR you are so good at making something so horrible sound better than it really is.
You just have to look at the Japanese, they have had the longest life expectancies on the planet and up until recently they didn’t really consume dairy produce at all. I believe that it’s only because of a big marketing push from the dairy industry that milk consumption has become a big thing there. I’d hate to see what long term effects the adoption of a Western diet is going to have on Japanese health.
sad facts are sad
‘Tis sad. Mind you, I’m kinda evil just going by my own personal philosophy concerning animal slaughter, but eh.
those places aren’t nearly that clean…
That’s not a slaughterhouse though. That’s just a holding pen.
and therein lies the sad part… just how long do you think they are in those holding pens? how often do you think they are cleaned?
That looks more like a dairy barn. Which are usually cleaned twice a day, and certainly once a day.

I love chicken wings.

Way to go money and market!
That is 20% more milk production above what they already are.
I don’t even like burgers, but I love dairy of all types.
She slept with one, Saph. I’d say that ship sailed a while ago.
