I don’t get it? “You don’t have the right” -> “it is a privilege”/”you must earn” , “to not be offended” -> “to be peaceful”/”to achieve a state of zen”. So basically: “You must work hard to achieve a state of zen.” Ohhhh Kayyyy I suppose that is true. But I don’t get what that has to do with anything. That’s not a trigger warning it’s something you find inside a fortune cookie.
Right, sorry, I read that weirdly. Since “their no right to be protected from offence” is the opposite of a trigger warnings, I didn’t read it verbatim. I mean that is the opposite, isn’t it? Maybe? I don’t know any more. There has been some much said about, and so many different usages of Trigger Warnings I would not be surprised if they were actually type of Russian soup.
The context threw me off I think. I honestly don’t understand this page. I don’t get the joke at all. Is the base hurt by “Trigger Warning” and if so why is saying the opposite of Trigger Warning in the last panel hurting it as well? Are the mocking it because it’s offended by Trigger Warnings? If so that ‘s a bit of a muddle message. I don’t get it.
Oh! I totally misread that. I thought Lil Sappho was saying “You don’t have a right not to be offended.” As in, “you better be offended or else.” That was confusing. Thank you for the clarification, Christopher.
A trigger warning is a simple courtesy that allows you to talk about possibly disturbing subjects while being considerate of those in your audience that might be triggered by the topic. It costs nothing, gains you nothing but may possibly avoid discomfort in your audience.
Heh, not my fault that the trigger stuff for them is pointing out their bigotry etc…it’s why I’ve got another month ban on FB. 🙂 I really should stop using the FB profile when kicking the anthill. Ought to, wont. I like kicking anthills.
It’s essentially just a content advisory warning under a new name, which conservatives hate pretty much on principle of hating everything anyone to the left of them says or does.
Wow, is Little Sappho rocking the extra sass today?
We’ve probably all noticed that people who speak scornfully of SJWs and snowflakes don’t do well being criticised themselves.

Nope. There is no right to not be offended. There is a right to not be threathened, shoot at, punched and insulted.
Unless somebody is breaking another law by intentionally and repeatedly offending you, there is no legal repercussion.

I did not know that conservatives hate the concept (it seems like simple manners to me) but it’s not a stretch to believe it. It reminds me of the time a conservative writer went on a rant over free lemonade:

Man. Reminds me of some of my relatives. XD
I’ve never heard of a “trigger warning”. It must be a US thing, which we don’t have in the UK.
