So you’re saying that Libertarians don’t care about poor people? Nice.
And don’t pull this “satire” bullshit on me. When the scientist says that it’s the “right slogan”, that indicates YOU truly believe libertarians don’t care about the poor.
Yes, that is an exaggerated statement of my views about libertarianism. I think it is callous towards the needs of the poor and the large economic and social forces which make some people poor and others rich. The point of the cartoon is indeed to make fun of libertarians by saying, not that they don’t care about poor people, but that they hold the poor more responsible for their own situation than is appropriate.
It’s kind of hard NOT to, when every libertarian proposal is either to abolish graduated income tax in favor of ONLY sales tax*, or else to deregulate every single aspect of the economy under the guise of “letting the free market handle it.”**
It’s not as bad as the GOP’s corporate-welfare policies that actively prop up the rich at the expense of the poor, but it’s still very harmful to the poor, and this harm is completely ignored in favor of a bizarre Wild-West concept of what “freedom” and “accountability” ought to mean.
* This hurts the poor, because poor people don’t exactly have the leisure of not-spending-as-much. Every penny has to go to food, rent, utilities, and on rare occasions, they might be able to replace old, worn-out clothes when they get holes in them.
** We tried that 100 years ago. The result was that cocaine, absinthe, and alcohol were being sold as “cough medicine for children,” food contained rats, rat droppings, and the poison that was attempting to keep the rats out of your sausage factory, and no safety precautions taken at all. When poor children lose fingers working 12-hour days in a factory instead of going to school, that’s a problem.
IN general no. Being polluted by Ayn Rand the lover of psychopathy yes indeed they do care. But not to help them except by starving them. So that they will go out and get work even if they wouldn’t qualify for any in this on going Depression.
I’m sorry, but if you have to come back here to insult the author/artist of this site after six months, you really are a shallow bully.
Oh, and what I have found is that Libertarians do make the world into a caricature of what it really is and rely too much on the kindness of people and ignore the fact that many people are mean, greedy and spiteful. In a perfect world where everyone was kind, nice and worked towards balance, the government would not be necessary, but the world as it is requires government, regulations, and all the stuff that Libertarians hate.
Just tell me how much you hate government when you have your head in the toilet after getting food poisoning because of a lack of regulation.
When you start insulting like that it means your ideas are spent and you are now popping off blanks. You are empty. As empty as your “philosophy” of greed and indifference.
What? Libertarians care about the poor, they just don’t want the *givernment* to care about the poor. They feel jealous of the caring and want to keep all the caring for themselves.
Ya know as thay say, the law in its majesty forbids rich and poor equally to sleep under the bridge and all that. In the libertarian utopia, the freedom of speech will permit every poor person to apply for a job on a fake-reality show eating maggots!

I’m beginning to suspect you don’t know what satire is.
I know what satire is, I just think you’re saying it’s satire as an excuse.
Yes, an excuse to say what I think, couched in a humorous fashion.
So you admit that you do think libertarians don’t care about the poor.

Well I think you’re an ignorant sheep, and that is NOT an exaggeration of my views.
Honey, I don’t know where the name-calling comes from, but it makes you look a hell of a lot worse than the object of the insults.
Be patient with him; he’s in pain. He’s been in grieving since Ayn died, and it’s not getting better.
You’re right. I should be more sensitive to the nuances and particulars of other people’s specific situations.
So … you’re saying that libertarians do care about the poor? Honestly? That’s really weird.
Are you being sarcastic, Michael, or do you really believe that “libertarians don’t care about the poor” bullshit?

Said it before, and I’ll say it again – fuck you and your anti-libertarian propaganda, you mindless sheep.

Ok for a republican candidate though, Ron Paul is pretty cool imo. lol
