I’ve been reading through the whole strip and I like most of it, but I think that this thread is too politically OTT. People are not that dumb, even American left and right extremists.
For example, if you have laws against hair removal, you must logically forbid shaving, haircutting and so on. In fact, if religion bans it…where’s the Pope’s beard?
Thanks for your comment. Obviously I’m using exaggeration to make a point. But you may notice there are no laws against hair removal in the story line. Also. the story line is specifically about body hair removal. So beards and haircuts wouldn’t qualify.
Hence why some laws introduced in Leviticus are rigidly upheld (albeit with different punishments), e.g. sexual relationships, while others are quietly ignored (slavery, clean/unclean practices, two types of crop / cloth etc.)..
…it’s very much a case of church leaders picking and choosing the laws they thought still applied, while dumping the ones they thought didn’t. Never mind that several leaders appear to have thought “do not commit false testimony” applied to their parishioners but not to them…
And that right there is the problem with some Christians. You can’t pick and choose what to believe if you believe the entire book was divinely inspired.
The sad thing is, I’ve had an extremely similar conversation myself. I admit in hindsight that I suspect the person was actually screwing with me, but at the time I had the weirdest feeling of “I am nowhere near this smart, I should not be leading in this conversation, what the Baby Blue Jesus is happening?”

Gynostar really needs to comment on child abuse.
Coming to think of it, a total smartarse (like me) would point out that the head is still part of the body…
“You can’t always be super literal about it.”

On the subject of picking and choosing from the Bible I totally understand not agreeing with every rule/law brought up
In hindsight, was the discovery that Catholics had harbored and protected child molestors for at least several decades *that* surprising?
Really hitting your stride in this story arc <3
