I’ve heard entirely too many people say that about Milo Yakhead or whatever his name is. Because, you know, when someone outs transgender people in order to expose them to threats and violence, it’s really important to take their point of view into consideration.
Aha! This point exactly I keep running into around the internet! Free exchange of ideas and perspectives is getting confused with giving a platform to hate speech.
Nope, Cloud of Enlightenment; tried this with a family member, and listening to them only seemed to be taken as encouragement to be more vile. The longer I listened in stunned disbelief, the more they revealed their true beliefs. While part of me is glad that I now know what they really think, I just can’t understand why they would think I would support their position, especially when it is about something that would hurt my family or friends.
Just because you have freedom of speech doesn’t give you carte blanche to say whatever you like without repercussion. Freedom of speech means that I can criticize the President’s actions without being thrown in jail, that I can demand that he be held to the same level of accountability as the average citizen. However, that does not extend to making indirect threats against said President or his family, nor does it excuse him for encouraging his supporters to “exercise their 2nd Amendment rights” against a rival. This is the kind of distinction which a lot of people I’ve interacted with lately fail to grasp.
Oh, good gravy, enablers. Freaking, freaking enablers. Scourge of the goddam PLANET.
“You just have to *listen*! You need to *understand* what they want!” Guess what: we listened, we damn well understand what they want, and that is *why* we’re fighting them tooth and nail now. If they show any ability to become better people, we’ll reconsider. Otherwise, trash gets taken out.
Yeah, why do you have to be so intolerant of his intolerance? He didn’t chose to be a hateful bigot, he was just born that way.

Sometimes a good old fashioned flame-thrower might do the trick.

Uggh….would it entirely possible to burn the cloud along with the Base?
Those Shitlers are still so adorable! 😀
This strip really reminds of this Star Trek episode:

The moral of the story: Angry blobs just cant be reasoned with.
